We use top of the line products and Sherwin Williams is known for the highest quality paints.

CertaPro hires subcontractors and their teams and are paid per job/bid. Seasonal job would get job sites through CertaPro but I was paid by the subcontractor I work for. Most jobs were indoor/outdoor painting, structural surfaces, and ceilings.

The crew removes all of their materials, vacuum and sweep your floors and carpets, and move your furniture and décor back where they belong.

Waiting weeks to move your things back to normal isn't ideal, but it is necessary. We recommend giving it one to three weeks, depending on the humidity and temperature in the room. Wait for your paint to cure before mounting anything or moving furniture back into place.

Do you have to sand furniture before painting? Sanding isn't always necessary. If you are painting over the same type of paint, sanding isn't necessary if the furniture is in good condition (not peeling or chipping). However, be sure to wipe any dust or debris from the furniture before painting.

Most homes need to be painted every 7 to 10 years, but the actual timeframe varies by material and region. For example, cement fiberboard siding needs repainting every 10 to 15 years, but more traditional cladding needs painting more often.

How do you tell a contractor their price is too high? ›

Ask the contractor to explain why the price rose so dramatically from the initial estimate. He will likely say something about unexpectedly high expensive labor and materials.

The exact deposit amount contractors ask for upfront varies and is especially dependent on the size of the project. For relatively small jobs, like a $16,000 bathroom remodel, contractors may ask for a 50% deposit. For large jobs, like a $100,000 full-home renovation, a 10%–20% deposit is more typical.

Typically, the franchisee takes home 90% or more of their gross sales, with the remaining 10% going to the franchisor. In this model, the franchisor collects a percentage of total sales, usually between 4-6% of gross sales.

There's another fee you'll be paying as a franchisee. It's a royalty. Franchise royalties are usually collected by your franchisor on a monthly basis. Like marketing fees, these fees are based on a percentage of your revenue.

The oldest and most permanent pigments are the blacks, prepared from bone and charcoal, and the clay earths, such as raw umber and raw sienna, which can be changed by heating into darker, warmer browns. In early periods of painting, readily available pigments were few.

Many professional house painters require a down payment or deposit of 20% to 30% of a job's total cost. Once you pay that deposit, you usually won't need to pay anything else until they finish the job. They set up shop in one or 2 areas that allows them plenty of space to store their ladders, plastic sheets, paint, etc. Even though painters will bring in all of their own stuff, you may want to make room for them to keep all of this stuff.

A good principle is to wait about four hours for water-based paint to dry, and about 24 hours for oil-based paint to dry. Before the painting job starts, make a plan to allow the room adequate time to dry and air out before moving occupants back in.

If you have central air, make sure to turn the air conditioner on to the highest setting and let it run until new air has been pumped into the house, pushing out the paint fumes. If you have central air and you do not want the air conditioning on, you can always flip on the fan and leave the air off.

While the paint may feel dry 2 to 8 hours after painting, toxic chemicals could be released for up to two weeks. Ensure the room is properly ventilated – windows open, fans on – and avoid sleeping in the room for about two weeks if possible.

The highest quality bonding primers will often state 'no sanding is necessary' and will adhere to almost any shiny surface, such as glass, metal, tile etc. Primers like Kilz, Fuse, and Zinnser are good for bonding very strongly. Primers can be costly, but if they are of good quality there will be no need for sanding.

That's right, even if your furniture doesn't look particularly dirty, it's important to clean it before you start painting. Otherwise, the paint might not adhere properly, and you might end up with an uneven finish.

Primer For Bare Wood. All unfinished wood or bare wood surfaces should always be primed prior to painting. This goes for both interior and exterior paint projects. The reason you cannot skip bare wood priming is that wood is porous and has a grainy surface.

Early summer and early fall usually offer up the best weather conditions, with minimal rain and minimal fluctuations in temperature from day to night. This will ensure the paint goes on smoothly and has the chance to dry and cure properly.

Because there is less humidity, your paint will dry noticeably faster and better in the colder months, winter is the best time for painting the exterior or the home's interior. Don't wait for the hot temperature, high humidity months.

If you're painting Pro Classic over raw wood, the surface should be primed first. How many coats of paint do professionals use? ›
